If you are a Canadian Butler or have familial connections with the Butlers in Canada, this is the place for you.

If you’re already a member, we’re always glad to hear from you. If you’re not yet a member we encourage you to join us. By joining the Butler Society Canada you will automatically be a member of the Butler Society based at Kilkenny Castle in Ireland.

Why a Canadian Branch?

Because we have our own history, culture and customs that we need to explore and celebrate together from sea to sea to sea (Atlantic, Pacific, Arctic). Folk have asked “why don’t we have a Canadian branch? …” Well, now we’re doing something about it. And we need your help to establish it.

We’re an extension of our Irish parent. A wee bit of Ireland in Canada furthering the Society Mission to connect, preserve and unite our family in Canada and around the world. So, yes, it’s true to say that we stay very close to our Irish roots. And here in Canada we’re building our community and our sense of belonging through media, communications and events.

There will be more news and announcements as we make progress.

Meantime, to you and your loved ones, stay safe and well.

The team at The Butler Society Canada acknowledges that our work spans many Territories and Treaty areas. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are with us today, those who have gone before us and the emerging generations that inspire us. We recognize the land and the benefits it provides all of us, as an act of Reconciliation, as recommended by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) 94 Calls to Action and we express gratitude for the territory we reside on, work on or are visiting.
